I didn't choose speech-language pathology so much as I noticed, again and again, how much a single conversation could change someone's day — and decided I wanted to be part of more of those moments.
Early in my career, I worked across a range of settings: school-based programs supporting young children through their first words and sentences, and clinical environments helping adults rebuild communication after illness, injury, or simply the passage of time. Each setting taught me something different about what people actually need from therapy — not a script, but a relationship built on patience and trust.
What I noticed most was how often people came to therapy carrying quiet anxiety about being misunderstood, or about how their child’s development compared to some invisible benchmark. Part of my job, I realized, isn’t just clinical correction — it’s helping people feel safe enough to try, to stumble, and to keep going.
It also meant I could finally close the distance for families who don’t live near a major clinic. Growing up with roots in both the Oshawa area and the Greenstone/807 region of Northern Ontario, I’ve seen firsthand how much harder it is to access specialized care outside the GTA. Building a strong virtual therapy practice alongside in-person care was never an afterthought for me — it was the point.
Today, as a registered member of CASLPO (the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario), I bring that same philosophy to every client: clinical rigor, paired with genuine care, delivered in whatever setting works best for your life.
